This is awesome! I don't know much about product design but it's clear that you are very talented. I hope to be buying products designed by you in the future!
I doubt in ergonomy of the earphones. Design is awesome, really nice, but did you consider how they stuck in ear? They don't seem to be the ones that stay in place. All 16mm need to be profiled so they block on ear parts. 9mm are just like stoppers.
Duuuuuuuuuuude! You are the best. This is crazy. As good as the product is, I don't even care abt it....all I care bat on this one is the rendering. This is crazy good.
Hi Andy, you are and inspiration for most of here down in Accra - west Africa. Most of my friends in Share-iT are always on your blog waiting for updates on your new design work.
At your age, you are really gifted and your talent has helped us grow and strive for greatness.
Have you tough about doing a screen cast of your designs, so others would learn from you? Please do, cus sharing your talent would help change a lot of lives.
Sorry if I sound really critical. They look amazing, but they're earbuds. The root cause for their existence is functionality, and if they make the user's ears be in total agony after 10 minutes, then the design is bad regardless of how pretty they are. The two designs you have sketched which use gels are probably better overall.
Maybe the cup over the speaker could be hollow and made of a soft rubber? That way it could function like a gel but retain the seamless design.
Beautiful but absolutely uncomfortable. Adjusting volume will be a pain. They will fall out of ears. But you should enjoy your fans' comments, they seem to know nothing about design.
And yeah, delete this comment. You don't like critics, I see it. Too bad for you.
Sergio, you're a sad man. Your comment was completely lacking in content that's why I deleted it. Your comment went like this: You like Apple too much, so you're not going get inspired and be successful. What?! Who are you to say that I like Apple too much? Maybe I like Apple because they make some of the best products in terms of design? Maybe that gets me inspired?
Well, guess what? The only comments I delete are yours and viagra ads.
And have you tried putting on these headphones? Have you tried adjusting the volume? These are pictures, I don't know how you can judge the ergonomics from a single picture.
And I don't like how you are saying that the other commenters "know nothing about design". How are you any better than them?
I'm sorry but you're not a critic, you are a troll.
And yeah, go ahead, make another stupid comment. You don't like me, I see it. Too bad for you, I don't care if you do.
Frixel, thanks. I may do that in the future, but currently, I'm occupied with a bunch of things. Keep in touch.
Seb, shipping is always free. :)
Scott, thanks, and good idea!
Bren, I decided to not use a rubber material because some of the most comfortable earphones don't that that. The sennheiser mx400 is super comfortable but is made of hard plastic. The casing of the dot is actually matte and soft, so it may help. Who knows.
PaulV33, thanks. it was just an aesthetic decision. You can't make everyone happy though. ;)

Amazing! I would buy that if it goes into production!
Looks awesome!
Only thing that's off for me in this is that the perspective of the plug is off on the picture where the earphones are plugged into the Shuffle.
I can't say you've reinvented the earphone since there are many similar peripherals out there you can easily take inspirations from...
You basically meshed ideas from:

I like that you are applying Rams & Fukasawa principles to your work. Hopefully you can develop your own style too... Good job Andrew!
Fantastic! Amazing, Andrew.

Got a quick question for you:
What program did you use to create the image of the exploded view of the earphones? as well as the other perspective views?
Was that all done in photoshop or another rendering program?
Your work is great and always enjoy seeing updates!
Thanks

I'd love do see a headphones designed by you.
Thanks for the comments everone.
@Eugene, someone caught it. I couldn't find a high-res image of the front of the shuffle. I'll silently swap it out when I find one.
@Jason Cook, as I have written, it's all done in Photoshop. I'm haven't taught myself any 3D yet so everything on this blog is hand drawn.

I don't know squat about headphones. I just really love seeing the detail you put into every design project. I really enjoy your blog.

Keep up the great work.
Can I have a pair in yellow please??? Is it free shipping? Lol
Further simplification: only one ear bud needs to be marked (R or L). Think about it.
Sorry, forgot to say - beautiful work Andrew.
Looks super uncomfortable.

really beautiful and i like the volume controller but i think the colors are too bland; i think flash red, green... is better but it's ly opinion
My opinion escuse my
what i miss in these is some sort of a felt dot (like braille) somewhere on the left or right piece so you can put them on without looking
