Wow, your designs are amazing...

Love the mouse idea, hope someone adopts that...

the hardrive speaker idea looks the part... but if that idea ever came into fruition wouldn't you be worried about the magnet and the vibration from the speaker affecting the hardrive?

Lol great designs, you've got a career ahead of you

Congratulations, Andrew! Great work!

Apparently you haven't learned the importance of directionality in mouse design. The Apple Puck failed because there was no tactile orientation for 'up'. Going wireless only aggravates the problem.

And why all the empty space when combined. If geared toward laptop users, isn't portability key? That empty space is wasted space in my backpack. (I'll assume the monstrous scale in the photos is in error.)

@anm - i think its supposed to be more of a dock than something you carry with you everywhere.

Anm, yes Buddha was right, this is meant to stay on your desk and wait for you till you get back to work.

The mouse seems like it would be uncomfortable (scarily reminiscent of the original iMac's "puck" mouse) but the rest of this is beautiful. I especially appreciate how the USB thumb drive plugs in a a little decorative nub at the top. The whole unit does seem to be a little large, but I think that is forgivable seeing as how it contains a 2TB HDD.

This is absolutely beautiful and brilliant. It is ideas like this that only run through people's imaginations and you are making them a reality. You are truly a pioneer in the digital world my friend..

Having a magnet on top of a hard drive is a risky..

July 14, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterTrevor

Agree with Trevor, magnets and hard drive is a bad combination.

July 15, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterG

Lol that's for a Freshman design class, that's incredible work for that early in your career if that's UG.

Wow, love it.

The mouse concept is brilliant, but not necessarily something I would use for my computer.

Regarding the magnet on top of the harddrive issue, it shouldn't be a problem. The magnet required to hold those clips is not powerful and can easily be neglected. In order to magnetically disturb a harddrive you'll need something with much more juice.

I would love to see how well the "sub-woofer" works as I find the idea quite cool.

The way you have used the coffee machine as inspiration is really clear throughout the design and it just looks awesome.

Keep it up!

I have to say that I love your design aesthetic. You speak the languages of both form and function well. My only concern is the extra vibration the HDD will endure due to the sub-woofer, hence the overall durability of the design.

Otherwise, great and inspiring work friend!

just recently found your blog here.
great n lovely design, the only concern for this would be how to protect the HDD from magnetic influence from both sides (the subwoofer n the clip holder) other than that, all's cool

omg that looks soo sick!
i wonder how yo u can come up with these sick concepts and how you build like a model of it?
where do you get the creativity andrew?
great jobb

wow. performance asides, this looks like an excellent design. lose the magnet though. how many people actually use paper clips at home these days? keep designing.

I think he is by far the most intelligent and talented designer I've ever seen. He looks aside the ordinary designs and create something that can never be copied. His designs are funtional, aesthetic, live, and vibrant not still. Way to go, I bow before you. You have talent and future. I'm looking forward the day that I use one of your products. By the way I'm sharing your blog to my friend if its ok with you. Everyone should see these.

Your designs are fascinating!

i feel like the usb ports shouldn't be in back, i don't know where, maybe on the bottom, black party, but on top in back is impractical because of the magnet on top. Could cause alot of purged USB perpherials.

I'm sorry, other than that, its a great job man, keep it up.
Enjoy Tokyo!
